A day in my life I'll never forget

A day in my life I'll never forget

As a 24-year-old young man who was born and raised in Naivasha, Kenya,
I have had numerous unforgettable days in my life, but one that stands out was back in 2015.

On this so called father's Day I find nothing good to celebrate.
But I have a remarkable story to tell. Story that will never come off my brain.

Listen.............

That day dawned like any other day, but it turned out to be the most emotional day in my life that I will cherish forever.

I vividly remember waking up to the sunlight that streams through my window and the smell of my mom's cooking from the kitchen. At that time, my life was going as usual, school, hanging out with friends, and spending time with my family.

I had stepped out of the house to run some errands with my friend Lisa when I received a call from my sister Grace asking me to come home as soon as possible , this was after missing her 5 missed calls.

I had no idea what was going on until I picked her calls and from her sad voice, I knew something was not right.

Without wasting time, she broke the sad news that my beloved dad had passed away. It felt like my world had ended.

I found myself home though I have no idea how reached home.

My dad's death was unexpected, and it came as a big shock.

The whole day felt like a blur. Everything moved too fast, from seeing relatives and friends walking in and out of the house, to the funeral arrangements that were being made.

The thought of my dad leaving us forever was too much to bear.

The image of my dad lying in a coffin was one that weighed heavily on my mind.

The idea that I would never see him again hit me hard. My dad had been my superhero, my mentor, my friend, and I had lost all that in a matter of minutes.

The day was filled with tears, hugs, condolences, and warmth for the loss of my dad. But, it was also a day filled with love, family, and memories of my father.

We each took turns sharing our fondest memories of him, and it brought some light to the emotionally draining day.

That day changed my life; it taught me how to appreciate life, the people you love, and the little moments. It made me cherish the memories I had with my dad and took nothing for granted.

In summary, that day was a turning point in my life;

it was the day I lost someone incredibly dear to me. Nevertheless, it also brought about some form of comfort, and my family's love and support helped me through the tough times. I will forever remember that day, 14th of September 2015.🥲🥲🥲

You still my hero Mr Samuel Ochieng. Happy father's Day whenever you're 🕊️🙏🙏🙏
